Invest in rechargeable batteries.  Actually, the best thing to do when it comes to your camera batteries is to invest in two sets of rechargeable batteries.  This way, not only will you always be sure that you have a set that is charged and ready to go, but you will also have a set on stand-by.  Plus, in cost analysis, using rechargeable batteries (when your camera is compatible) can save you hundreds of dollars each year.  Rechargeable batteries also can last a year or two on average without having to be replaced and it takes minimal electricity to charge them.  Plus, some of the higher quality charger sets can be used in your car enabling you to have charging options on the go.
  1. Buy a camera that doesn’t use typical batteries.  Digital cameras have come down in price quite a bit in the last few years.  On average, you can find a decent quality with 12 mega pixels for under $100.  If you invest in a new camera that charges using a USB port that plugs into the wall, computer or vehicle – you will not have to buy any new batteries again.  In fact, you can simply keep your camera charging when not in use to be sure that it is fully charged and ready when it comes time to take pictures. 
If you cannot part with your camera batteries in multi packs, then you should definitely purchase them in bulk and purchase name brand batteries.  Far too often, no name batteries and off brands will not last nearly as long as popular battery brands.
